José Pariente

Since Jeffro mentioned turning this into a wine blog, I thought I'd tell you about my favorite white wine, Jose Pariente. You can read more about it here. I buy mine at The Curious Grape in Shirlington.

A spanish white wine? Wild! Can't wait to try it. When I think of Spain I think Shiraz and Rioja.

My favorites are King Shag Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - available at your local Trader Joes (with a fab penguin on the front) for everyday wine. Special wine would be a 2003 Pietro Vernaccia di San Gimignano (a white from a specialized region in Tuscany) available at Total Wine and More in VA.

Like dry whites? - try Sauvingnon Blancs from Marlborough, New Zealand; dry Rieslings from Germany or Austria (watch out for the sweet ones though); and Pinot Grigios from the Veneto region of Italy.

We should join a wine tasting group!

I agree, a longer break would have been much better, and Thailand much more fun than here running around Christmas shopping!
