Day Trippin'

I spent the day at River Farm, right off the GW Parkway on Friday. What a beautiful place! I want to work there!

Thanks to MJ for discovering it!
Bored?

Check out thingstodo.com for ideas. And yes, I am calmer now . . .
Pet Peeves

Can anyone explain why, after a 4 day weekend and my having to go to the doc this morning to get poked and prodded, the receptionist here felt the need to come in my office *before I'd even put my stuff down* to ask me about where something was? Like I have any fucking idea right now? I'll show you where I'd like to put it. That is probably my number one pet peeve, jumping all over me before I even walk in the door. God I hate this place. Talk about your day starting badly. Leave me alone!

Match Made in Nashville

Congrats to Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood for finally getting engaged. This has been rumored in the country music world for a long time.

Thanks to Jeffro for the tip.
American Idol?

Unfortunately, Carrie Underwood won last night's American Idol. While I like the fact that she's a country girl, I'm just not a big fan of this big Barbie doll.

The Future's So Bright

I gotta wear shades! I couldn't believe it this morning when I actually had to put my sunglasses on walking from the metro. Gosh I missed the sun!

Crazy Making!

This has been a very long day. And I'm all antsy about the weekend. Though I'm craving time off, I'm struggling with trying to fill it. I need to be like Frankie and Relax!
Four Day Weekend!

I just got approval to take Friday off, giving me a nice, relaxing four-day weekend. I'm itching to get out of town, but probably should stay put and get some stuff done.

Some Assembly Required

Those three dreaded words. But now there's help for morons like me who can't put anything together. NBC News Channel 4 has found help for assembling things that we mere mortals cannot. I'm using them to put together a bookshelf this weekend and can't wait. I'm so relieved that I don't have to do it myself. Some Assembly Required, Ted Stewart, 540-854-7902, 8474 Black Walnut Run Road, Rhoadesville, VA 22542. Only $35 an hour, what a bargain and a great business concept.
Monday Already?

How do weekends to by so quickly? Loving the weather this weekend, was very busy. Saw Mamma Mia for the second time, not as good as the first. Went to 2 parties Saturday and a brunch Sunday, so I don't think I had a single home-cooked meal all weekend. Got some stuff taken care of at home and in the yard too. I'm thinking of taking Friday off and making it a 4 day weekend.

Turned Down

Sadly, I had to turn down a job offer at Georgetown cause the pay was wayyyyy too low to consider. Not a happy day.

Haagen-Daz Light

Did you know that Haagen Dazs has a new light ice cream. And it's goooooooooooooood. Get you some!
ACMs

Boy the awards show last night just sucked all around. They decided to forgo a host/MC this year, and it was very jumbled as a result. Plus the performances all sucked, and awards went to some very undeserving people. Gretchen Wilson as Best Female Vocalist? I know she had a great year, but this is her first year out. What a disappointment. I taped the first hour cause I was watching American Idol, but I'm not ever sure I'll go back and watch it.

What Day Is It?

Damn, I've gone through the entire day thinking on and off that it's actually Weds. Wishful thinking, I guess.
Accurate Horoscope

If it were "opposite day:" You're sending out nothing but positive vibes, and you're in such a good mood, it's positively contagious. Don't be selfish. Spend some time with your friends tonight, and spread the good stuff around.
The Office

NBC's The Office will be back in the fall. I am so thrilled! It makes my job look not-so-bad, which isn't easy.
Academy of Country Music Awards!

Tune in tonight at 8 p.m. on CBS for the best in country music. You know you love it!

Did You Know?

Even using the latest testing equipment, biologists cannot identify a single genetic distinction between any dog breeds. Crazy! That's my scientific fact for the day, boys and girls.
Somethin' Fishy

Do not buy these deceptive Japanese rice snacks. Although they are low cal, low fat, and low sodium, they taste like fish! I'm so grossed out right now. Someone give me a Snickers, please.
Rick Springfield in Concert!

Come on, you know you want to go. He's performing at the Fairfax Fair on Saturday, June 11. You can get advanced tickets now online or at all Fairfax County Multiplex Cinemas and at all NOVA Silver Diner locations through June 5, 2005. Or get them at the door for a whopping $10. What a bargain to see the best singer/songwriter ever! Ok, you can all stop laughing now.
Weekend Update

Wow, it was a crazy one. Went to see Niki Barr at Iota last night. A good show, but way too loud thanks to the sound guy. During the day I went shopping with my sister at Tysons, a very productive and much-needed trip. My sister, who has 6 children age 10 and younger, hasn't bought new clothes probably since her first pregancy. We dropped a ton of money at Gap and Hecht's.

Saturday I spent the day at Green Spring Gardens Park and Home Depot, buying plants for my barren backyard. Bought a few things, only to have their hardiness tested by the storms on Saturday night.

Friday night was a show at the Birchmere, Kathleen Edwards. She was awesome, every bit as good as she sounds on her CD, plus we got to meet her afterwards and get her autograph. She was surprised at the turnout there, despite the fact that she's rapidly gaining popularity, and had her video has played on CMT. She was incredibly humble.

Show Me the Money!

Poke me, I'm done for the week. Officially hit a wall about 10 mins ago. It's been a long day, blogger was down earlier when I tried to post something. I had a final interview with G-town today, informally over lunch at Daily Grill. It's down to 2 candidates, and I have the bad feeling that I won't get it cause of money. But you know, I'm okay with whatever happens. Cause whatever money the offer is going to suck, and I just don't know if I can take that big a cut.

I'm off to a show at the Birchmere tonight for Kathleen Edwards. Should be pretty good but late. Boy do I need a 2nd wind. Tomorrow I'm off to a garden show to buy stuff to attempt to make my yard look nice. Sunday is a shopping excursion to Potomac Mills with my sister and possibly another show in the evening.

Better Days

I seem to be having a better day, thankfully. Maybe it has something to do with having a final interview tomorrow with Georgetown, and a possible interview coming up with Raytheon. Maybe I will actually break free from this endless job.

Ready to Run

Do you ever feel like just giving up and running away? That desire is becoming overwhelming for me these days. I'm stuck in so many ruts and life is completely meaningless and annoying.

Second Interview

Had a second interview today with Georgetown Law Center, it went pretty well. The boss seems (amazingly) to be a nice, normal guy who believes you should actually enjoy your job. What a concept. And his underlings seem to think he's great to work for as well. Unbelievable.
Feel the Wind Blowing

How nice to be able to breathe again.

I'm Back . . .

Surgery went well, except for being very tired all the time and lack of ability to breathe well yet. But am I glad to be back at work? No! Luckily, I have a second interview tomorrow with a company I met with before surgery. So we'll see what happens.
